The utilization rate of phosphogypsum in China is less than 40%, the stock of phosphogypsum has now exceeded 0.3 billion tons, and nearly 100 phosphogypsum storage yards are in use. It not only takes up a lot of land, but also poses a potential threat to the environment. How to treat and use phosphogypsum efficiently and safely is an urgent problem to be solved.
In 2003, Kailin Group first proposed the reuse method of phosphogypsum as aggregate to fill underground goaf, that is, the total phosphorus slag self-cementing filling mining technology of acidic ultra-fine phosphogypsum waste as filling aggregate and yellow phosphorus slag instead of cement. However, various heavy metals exist in different forms under the mine, and some heavy metals such as arsenic, manganese and zinc have high acid soluble content and need long-term monitoring.
Hemihydrate phosphogypsum is a by-product of hemihydrate phosphoric acid process phosphogypsum, the main component is CaSO4 · 1/2H2O, because it contains only half of the crystal water, with potential gelling activity, but by phosphorus, fluorine and other impurities and crystalline form, it is not like building gypsum powder with gelling, need to be modified to form strength.

Through theoretical research, experimental research and industrial research, hemihydrate phosphogypsum is added with water, washed and dehydrated, heated to a certain temperature, then rapidly cooled, ground into fine powder and added a certain proportion of yellow phosphorus slag powder, lime powder, fly ash, a small amount of additives, prepared into semi-water phosphorus gypsum modified cementitious materials. It can replace cement in mine filling and be applied to mine filling. The filling body made of this material has the characteristics of high strength, low cost, safety and reliability (no toxic gas is produced in the filling process), low bleeding rate (<3%), etc., so as to achieve the purpose of "one waste and two harms.
The breakthrough of hemihydrate phosphogypsum modified cementing material and filling technology has successfully solved the two major problems of phosphogypsum storage in phosphorus chemical enterprises and high filling cost in phosphorus mining enterprises, which can greatly improve the mine recovery rate and the large-scale utilization of phosphogypsum. The effect of cost reduction and efficiency increase is outstanding, which is of great significance to the construction of green mines and the transformation and upgrading of phosphorus chemical industry, and has significant economic and social benefits.
